Graduate Assistant, First Year Experience

Job Description Summary
The Graduate Assistant for First Year Experience (FYE) is a graduate student staff position in the Division of Academic Affairs in the Office of Student Success under the supervision of the Director of First Year Experience. This position supports New Student Orientation (NSO), the SLU 101 course, and the FIRSTS program. Additionally, the position will assist with the planning and implementation of FYE activities and events throughout the year as assigned by the Director.
Job Description
Duties and Tasks:
Develop, coordinate, market, and execute creative and relevant educational, cultural, social and spirit based activities and events for FYE.
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the office and SLU 101.
Assist with analytics and research.
Develop and maintain social media publications.
Maintain the orientation@saintleo.edu account.
Act as a web liaison for the office to update and maintain the office's webpages.
Assist with the planning, training, supervising and evaluation of Orientation Leaders.
Participate in University functions, committees, etc. as appropriate.
Represent the University as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree required.
Must be accepted and enrolled in a Saint Leo University Master's degree program. Graduate students in any major are eligible to apply.
Knowledge of higher education and its goals.
Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Skills and experience with marketing to include social media, print, email and video.
Skills and experience with conducting research and assessment.
Skills and experience with event planning.
Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
Ability to function autonomously and as a member of a team.
Ability to work cohesively with a diverse student body.
Ability to learn and utilize technology and technological programs.
Ability to work weekend and evenings when necessary.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
